The first picture was inspired by a photo I took in Montmartre in Paris. Montmartre, if you are not familiar is the highest point in Paris, soaring very high over the city. It has a church and a village at the top with restaurants and an artists colony. Many artists come there daily to paint and sell artwork. I was fortunate to spend a day there with them, conversing and sketching along side them. It was one of the highlights of my trip and one I hope to repeat soon. As you can see from my painting, I have depicted those artists hawking their wares. The second is from my photo of a dining experience in Rome. Rome as well as many other european cities has an active outdoor cafe' scene. it is one of the pleasures of life to dine alfresco, drink wine and watch the people move past.

These are my latest paintings. Except for "some people I know", it was done last year. The other two are done from my photos from Rome and Paris taken last may. I always look for photos that I can come home and paint from my travels. I would like to be able to paint them on the spot, but usually we are moving too fast for me to stop for an hour or two and then others would have to wait for me. Anyway, I share them with you for your potential enjoyment.
